In 2003, Marlon Saunders released the critically acclaimed CD Enter My Mind. Hailed by Billboard, Vibe and Straight No Chaser as one of the best soul recordings in recent years, Marlon along with producers Carl Carter, Shawn Lucas, and Warren Rosenstein created a collection of modern soul music that combines the richness of the 70s with a warm organic groove. |

Unlike most live albums, Marlon's second solo release is not a recording of a performance before a screaming audience. Inspired from a conversation with his keyboard player Joe Scott, Marlon decided to bring his band, Mood Control, together for a series of sessions in which the musicians experimented with different approaches to songs from his critically-acclaimed debut release, Enter My Mind, and a few written especially for the new project. From over 14 hours of recorded material, Marlon selected just over 70 minutes to become A Groove So Deep: The Live Sessions (2005). |
